Yoga, transcendental meditation, fortune tellers, astrology inayana Buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism, tantric sex and enhanced return to the flock and fervent Catholic (think Claudia Koll just as an example).
We are invaded by a mass phenomenon of our west which turns from time to time in Eastern religions, the ancient tradition and Western esotericism.
A thin line connects all this to those who do not hesitate to call "perversions food: cooking vegan, macrobiotic or odd positions, such as eating or removing the salt, that's incredible, eliminate carbs from your diet. The question, of course, is not whether the carbohydrates are healthy or not, is not whether or not the salt to be healthy, even if the fundamentals of macrobiotic cooking are scientifically acceptable. I was not interested judge of the Soka Gakkai Buddhism, Tantrism or the fervent faith in Jesus' question, in fact, is not about the value of these individual things, but rather on the attitude of fans amassed in each of these thoughts. Originally there is, perhaps, inadequacy and a need to rely on a belief that implies an unsolvable mystery, and that the path you choose is the right one, the only one that allows us access to that mystery. Or that the food choice, more or less far-fetched, and that will solve all the problems of our body and our spirit, opening the way to a well-being and harmony that we have ever owned and if you chose to entrust to a guru, never attained!
I come from a provincial place and a family is not particularly educated or middle class but, for reasons of work and study, surrounded by wealthy and educated people, or sometimes high-bourgeois. What I noticed comparing the two situations is that such searches for "spirituality", "depth", "exclusive", "welfare" and so on and so forth, are mainly a feature of the upper layers or well-off society economically and intellectually, but I do not see a substantial difference in the degree of happiness of the two classes compared.
This impromptu discussion I will not point the finger at different people (you are free to do as they please, God forbid!) That address the various religions, customs, food, oriental philosophy, etc. ... but I want to look at a general trend of our West more and more "new age" which, precisely in its being "new age", reveals a kind of irreconcilable alienation.
Just think of how much reserve to the theories, philosophies and Eastern religions the well of true spirituality and true peace, but then they do not realize that "taking possession" of those spirituality uprooted from the place where they have developed and the social network in which they appear. The result is that eradicating the water down and empty, the mix of nothing but Eastern Europe is not. Therefore believe that the depth is in the east are only meeting a strange melting-pot. A little 'as the foreigners who make the pasta (hot) sauce with ketchup instead of thinking it's Italian cuisine!
